Roadmap

What we are building next, and everything that has shipped. These are directions, not dates: the order changes when the people using Pulse Local tell us something matters more.

For Pulse Local 0.4.2

Now, next, later

Envelopes with stamps of different colours arriving in a wooden letter tray, a small potted sprout beside it

Now: Bank feeds outside the US

Bank sync works with US banks today. Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Europe come next, so a CSV per bank is no longer the only way in.

A folded paper statement beside a neat stack of index cards, each holding one of its lines

Now: PDF statements

Many banks make a PDF statement easier to get than a CSV. Pulse Local will read the transactions from a PDF on your machine, like everything else.

An open wooden window with four panes, a young seedling in a pot on the sill

Next: Windows

The same app and the same promise: the models, your ledger and every answer stay on your machine.

A phone lying face down on a desk with a sprig of green leaves across its back

Later: Your phone

Pulse Local where you spend, with the same rule: the model runs where your data lives.

Shipped

0.4.2 Filing Needs review is faster: the list keeps each merchant together, and after you pick a category for one row Pulse offers to file the rest from that merchant, or to remember it for next time. When a bank cannot be connected the app now says why, for example a bank still waiting for approval at Plaid, and it tells you when one bank is connected twice.

0.4.1 Fixes from launch week: bank exports from Europe and Australia import correctly (semicolons, decimal commas, accents, IBANs); a category changes with one click in Transactions; changing the country no longer freezes the app; quitting no longer ends in a crash report. Better understanding now starts off on machines with 16 GB of memory or less, where it could make everything slow; if you had changed it yourself, your choice is kept.

0.4.0 Every money answer is now read twice, by Pulse’s rules and a second model on your machine, and a figure is shown only when the two agree; otherwise Pulse says it is not sure. The second model is a one-time 2.5 GB download and can be turned off in Settings.

0.3.0 Answers about your spending show what they counted, and you can change it; their figures are checked against that calculation before they are shown.

0.2.2 Follow-ups on any answer, exclusions in any wording, and how-to answers for every screen.

0.2.1 Opening the app no longer touches your keychain; only bank sync does.

0.2.0 Any country and any currency, a sample in local shops, and updates that install themselves.
